July 2015 will mark a half-century since the Mariner 4 flyby of Mars, when it became the first space probe to beam back pictures of the Red Planet. The panelists reflect on the discoveries made by Mariner 4 and how its revelation of a harsh environment influenced science fiction, on the other missions that have come in the 50 years since then, and on the sense of wonder these discoveries and images generated in us.
